Another long-lost rarity this week. The Los Angeles Philharmonic, guest conducted by the legendary Charles Munch with pianist Gary Graffman in music of Bach, Chopin, Sibelius and Roussel.

Recorded, but never aired, on February 10, 1966, the concert features Charles Munch and troop in Bach’s 3rd Brandenburg. They are then joined by equally legendary Gary Graffman in Chopin’s Piano Concerto Number 1. After intermission, the orchestra continues with Sibelius’ Symphony Number 7 and the concert ends with Roussel’s Suite in F.

The concert is on two players – the top player is the Bach and Chopin and the bottom player is the Sibelius and Roussel.

This concert was one of the rare appearances the iconic French Conductor performed in Los Angeles. It’s never been issued in any form and was long considered lost.

But it isn’t now. Enjoy.
